Speaker Bios:

1.     With over 8 years of web design and online marketing experience, Mark Van Baale has played an integral part in non-profit organizations and Fortune 500 companies. He is the Founder of the Kansas City Social Media Group that meets monthly with small business owners / professionals who are learning how to use social media to improve their business. Additionally, he was a co-chairman for two Kansas City Twestivals, a Twitter-related event where people met off-line to raise donations for national and local charities. He recently launched a “Job Seekers View” blog to provide job search information and resources to help those in the job search process.   Mark is an avid connector with a passion for helping people learns how to use social media tools to interact with others and increase their business. He is currently active in volunteering with New Landings to help provide social media training to its members and working with a team to increase awareness of what New Landings offers to the Kansas City community for job seekers.  He is currently in the search for a social media/marketing manager role that would enable him to use his extensive background and experience to provide solutions for a small to mid-size company.

2.     Doug Richards worked at Sprint as an educational consultant which later morphed into the title of Multimedia Developer.  After Sprint, Doug worked on a multitude of projects; consulting start-ups, selling for companies, managing for some and training sales people for a few hundred. He also stayed very active in the Kansas City community serving on SITAKS/KTEC committees and the Microsoft Board of Directors (KC).  Keeping an eye on internet trending, he started seeing the beginnings of social media, social networking and social computing. And then… it exploded. As a sales person, Doug realized that there were ways to leverage these tools to immediately impact productivity and ultimately the bottom line of any business.

The career expo will include opportunities to interview with Kansas City companies and attend workshops for interviewing, resume writing and social networking. The day will include morning and afternoon networking sessions, allowing for face-to-face meetings with other area professionals.
