This is the first time such an event has been organized in the state of Missouri that focuses resources on women veterans.

The U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau in Kansas City has formed a collaborative of federal, state and local community-based organizations to present a stand-down and mini-retreat event to honor women veterans and their families. Female veterans are highly encouraged to attend this special, free event on Saturday, October 23, 2010.
The “Stand-down and Mini-Retreat” and will highlight community resources and services which often can make a difference in helping families make ends meet, and will address barriers women veterans encounter as a result of a lack of information.

All veterans are welcome. Military men and women will receive complimentary services including job assistance, legal advice, housing, and health screenings. Representatives from various Veterans agencies will attend. Veterans and their families are encouraged to register online. Volunteers will be registering attendees the day of the event.
